DRY NEEDLING
HOW IT WORKS - Insertion of monofilament needles
Dry needling involves inserting a tiny monofilament needles in a muscle, in a joint, or along nerves specifically to treat myofascial trigger points, muscle spasms, neural tension, arthritis, scars, or other areas with tight tissues or pain. This can help resolve pain and muscle tension to promote healing. Dry needling can be used in combination of electrical stimulation to accentuate the treatment and hasten healing time.
Dry needling is using in combination with other physical therapy exercises and techniques to restart the normal function of the muscle, nerve, or joint.
Dry needling v. Acupuncture - Both therapies use fine filament needles gently inserted into select areas in the body. Dry needling is used within the framework of western musculoskeletal diagnoses. Acupuncture uses the theoretical framework of traditional Chinese medicine to alter the flow of Qi or energy along traditional Chinese meridians.
THERAGUN
HOW IT WORKS - Theragun Percussive Therapy
The Theragun uses repetitive strokes into muscle 16 mm deep, 40 times a second - 60% deeper than vibration massagers - to stimulate circulation, generate heat, and release your deepest tension.
Various attachments cater to everybody’s needs, providing targeted, area-specific relief for every muscle group. Featuring differing levels of firmness in precisely engineered shapes, each Attachment is doctor-tested and made of closed cell PU foam, which is antimicrobial and non-porous.
GRASTON TECHNIQUE
HOW IT WORKS - Graston Tools
Graston Technique® (GT) Therapy is an evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) that allows for precise detection and treatment of fascial restrictions as well as muscle and tendon dysfunction. Following the kinetic chain, we can target and treat affected tissues.
This technique utilizes specific Graston Tools to aid in manually manipulating muscles, tendons and ligaments where scar tissue is present.
The Graston instrument amplifies what is felt by the practitioners hand. Once found, the practitioner can break down the dysfunctional scar tissue using the appropriate Graston tool for that area of the body. The small amount of inflammation created by the treatment process “re-starts” the healing process.
Typically, the Graston technique is effective in treating chronic injuries where the tissue has matured in a dysfunctional state.
BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION TRAINING WITH THE OWENS RECOVERY SCIENCE
HOW IT WORKS - Personalized Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation (BFR)
Personalized blood flow restriction rehabilitation training (BFR) is a game-changing injury recovery therapy that is producing dramatically positive results:
Diminish atrophy and loss of strength from disuse and non-weight bearing after injuries
Increase strength with only 30% loads
Increase hypertrophy with only 30% loads
Improve muscle endurance in 1/3 the time
Improve muscle protein synthesis in the elderly
Improve strength and hypertrophy after surgery
Improve muscle activation
Increase growth hormone responses
